Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai:

But ¹  they could not reply ²  to this.

Then call, ¹  and I will answer, or I will speak, and you respond to me.

But Jesus made no further reply, so that Pilate was amazed.

The Lord spoke to Moses:

he ¹  said to take back this answer to Esther:

But what was the divine response ¹  to him? “I have kept for myself seven thousand people ²  who have not bent the knee to Baal.” ³ 

I ¹  will reply to you, ²  and to your friends with you.

“Indeed, I am completely unworthy ¹  – how could I reply to you? I put ²  my hand over my mouth to silence myself. ³ 

But ¹  he will reply, ²  ‘I don’t know where you come from! ³  Go away from me, all you evildoers!’ ⁴ 

But God was watching over ¹  the elders of Judah, and they were not stopped ²  until a report could be dispatched ³  to Darius and a letter could be sent back concerning this.

When Esther’s reply ¹  was conveyed to Mordecai,

When ¹  I hear a reproof that dishonors ²  me, then my understanding ³  prompts me to answer. ⁴ 

But when Elihu saw ¹  that the three men had no further reply, ²  he became very angry.

Job ¹  has not directed ²  his words to me, and so I will not reply to him with your arguments. ³ 

I am like a man who cannot hear and is incapable of arguing his defense. ¹ 

A person has joy ¹  in giving an appropriate answer, ²  and a word at the right time ³  – how good it is!

But he did not answer even one accusation, so that the governor was quite amazed.

The king sent the following response: “To Rehum the commander, Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their colleagues who live in Samaria and other parts of Trans-Euphrates: Greetings! ¹ 

King Huram ¹  of Tyre sent this letter to Solomon: “Because the Lord loves his people, he has made you their king.”
