¹ He puts my feet in shackles; he watches closely all my paths.’

“No one lights ¹  a lamp ²  and then covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand so that those who come in can see the light. ³ 

Whoever makes perfume like it and whoever puts any of it on someone not a priest ¹  will be cut off ²  from his people.’”

If ¹  God ²  puts no trust in ³  his servants ⁴  and attributes ⁵  folly ⁶  to his angels,

On the flinty rock man has set to work ¹  with his hand; he has overturned mountains at their bases. ² 

A toss of a coin ¹  ends ²  disputes, and settles the issue ³  between strong opponents. ⁴ 

If God places no trust in his holy ones, ¹  if even the heavens ²  are not pure in his eyes,

Man puts an end to the darkness; ¹  he searches the farthest recesses for the ore in the deepest darkness. ² 

Now when this perishable puts on the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will happen, “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” ¹ 

He piles up the water of the sea; ¹  he puts the oceans ²  in storehouses.

“Learn ¹  this parable from the fig tree: Whenever its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near.

“No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a hidden place ¹  or under a basket, ²  but on a lampstand, so that those who come in can see the light.

Balaam replied, ¹  “Must I not be careful ²  to speak what the Lord has put in my mouth?” ³

And no one pours new wine into old wineskins; ¹  otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins will be destroyed. Instead new wine is poured into new wineskins.” ²

And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. ¹  If he does, the new wine will burst the skins and will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed.

Jesus ¹  said to him, “No one who puts his ²  hand to the plow and looks back ³  is fit for the kingdom of God.” ⁴ 

Balaam said to Balak, “Look, I have come to you. Now, am I able ¹  to speak ²  just anything? I must speak ³  only the word that God puts in my mouth.”

For God is the judge! ¹  He brings one down and exalts another. ²
