then you plunge me into a slimy pit ¹  and my own clothes abhor me.

Those who long to be rich, however, stumble into temptation and a trap and many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

A wise person is cautious ¹  and turns from evil, but a fool throws off restraint ²  and is overconfident. ³
