For we are a sweet aroma of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing –

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing,

He spares a person’s life from corruption, ¹  his very life from crossing over ²  the river.

So they came ¹  and woke him up saying, “Lord, save us! We are about to die!”

Give strong drink to the one who is perishing, ¹  and wine to those who are bitterly distressed; ² 

For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

and with every kind of evil deception directed against ¹  those who are perishing, because they found no place in their hearts for the truth ²  so as to be saved.

But ¹  he was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. They woke him up and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are about to die?”

They ¹  came ²  and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, ³  we are about to die!” So ⁴  he got up and rebuked ⁵  the wind and the raging waves; ⁶  they died down, and it was calm.

If I have seen anyone about to perish for lack of clothing, or a poor man without a coat,

I then said, “I will not shepherd you. What is to die, let it die, and what is to be eradicated, let it be eradicated. As for those who survive, let them eat each other’s flesh!”

The Israelites said to Moses, “We are bound to die! ¹  We perish, we all perish!

the blessing of the dying man descended on me, ¹  and I made the widow’s heart rejoice; ² 

Please stop wounding me! ¹  You have almost beaten me to death! ² 

Deliver those being taken away to death, and hold back those slipping to the slaughter. ¹ 

Open your mouth ¹  on behalf of those unable to speak, ²  for the legal rights of all the dying. ³ 

Indeed, I am about to raise up a shepherd in the land who will not take heed to the sheep headed to slaughter, will not seek the scattered, and will not heal the injured. ¹  Moreover, he will not nourish the one that is healthy but instead will eat the meat of the fat sheep ²  and tear off their hooves.

ה (He) Those who once feasted on delicacies ¹  are now starving to death ²  in the streets. Those who grew up ³  wearing expensive clothes ⁴  are now dying ⁵  amid garbage. ⁶ 

But when he came to his senses ¹  he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired workers have food ²  enough to spare, but here I am dying from hunger!

to the latter an odor ¹  from death to death, but to the former a fragrance from life to life. And who is adequate for these things? ²
