These are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed ¹  priests, whom he consecrated ²  to minister as priests. ³ 

“The holy garments that belong to Aaron are to belong to his sons after him, so that they may be anointed ¹  in them and consecrated ²  in them.

It is a continual burnt offering that was instituted on Mount Sinai as a pleasing aroma, an offering made by fire to the Lord.

From the mouths of children and nursing babies you have ordained praise on account of your adversaries, ¹  so that you might put an end to the vindictive enemy. ² 

He ¹  commanded us to preach to the people and to warn ²  them ³  that he is the one ⁴  appointed ⁵  by God as judge ⁶  of the living and the dead.

You ¹  received the law by decrees given by angels, ²  but you did not obey ³  it.” ⁴ 

When I look up at the heavens, which your fingers made, and see the moon and the stars, which you set in place, ¹ 

He delivered his people; ¹  he ordained that his covenant be observed forever. ²  His name is holy and awesome.

“The priest who is anointed and ordained to act as high priest in place of his father ¹  is to make atonement. He is to put on the linen garments, the holy garments,

“‘The high ¹  priest – who is greater than his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil is poured, who has been ordained ²  to wear the priestly garments – must neither dishevel the hair of his head nor tear his garments. ³ 

that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples: ¹ 

Why then was the law given? ¹  It was added ²  because of transgressions, ³  until the arrival of the descendant ⁴  to whom the promise had been made. It was administered ⁵  through angels by an intermediary. ⁶ 

Micah paid ¹  the Levite; the young man became his priest and lived in Micah’s house.

There I will make David strong; ¹  I have determined that my chosen king’s dynasty will continue. ² 

The steps of a person ¹  are ordained by ²  the Lord – so how can anyone ³  understand his own ⁴  way?

He eliminated ¹  the pagan priests whom the kings of Judah had appointed to offer sacrifices ²  on the high places in the cities of Judah and in the area right around Jerusalem. (They offered sacrifices ³  to Baal, the sun god, the moon god, the constellations, and all the stars in the sky.)

Moses said, “You have been consecrated ¹  today for the Lord, for each of you was against his son or against his brother, so he has given a blessing to you today.” ² 

Your eyes saw me when I was inside the womb. ¹  All the days ordained for me were recorded in your scroll before one of them came into existence. ² 

“Before I formed you in your mother’s womb ¹  I chose you. ²  Before you were born I set you apart. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”

Lord, you have been active from ancient times; ¹  my sovereign God, ²  you are immortal. ³  Lord, you have made them ⁴  your instrument of judgment. ⁵  Protector, ⁶  you have appointed them as your instrument of punishment. ⁷
