there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God.

It has no commander, overseer, or ¹  ruler,

Better is a person of humble standing ¹  who nevertheless has a servant, ²  than one who pretends to be somebody important ³  yet has no food.

Never before ¹  has anyone heard of someone causing a man born blind to see. ² 

For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.

I have become a fool. You yourselves forced me to do it, for I should have been commended by you. For I lack nothing in comparison ¹  to those “super-apostles,” even though I am nothing.

No one remembers the former events, ¹  nor will anyone remember ²  the events that are yet to happen; ³  they will not be remembered by the future generations. ⁴ 

Then the Lord ¹  said: “Name him ‘Not My People’ (Lo-Ammi), because you ²  are not my people and I am not your ³  God.” ⁴ 

But Simeon and Levi replied, ¹  “Should he treat our sister like a common prostitute?”

All humanity has seen it; people gaze on it from afar.

May their camp become desolate, their tents uninhabited! ¹ 

They say, “How does God know what we do? Is the sovereign one aware of what goes on?” ¹ 

Tears stream down from my eyes, ¹  because people ²  do not keep your law.

Surely it is futile to spread ¹  a net in plain sight of ²  any bird, ³ 

(Now none of those present at the table ¹  understood ²  why Jesus ³  said this to Judas. ⁴ 

just as it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one,

Do not seek your own good, but the good of the other person.

It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

They will not be hungry or thirsty; the sun’s oppressive heat will not beat down on them, ¹  for one who has compassion on them will guide them; he will lead them to springs of water.

Your presumptuous heart ¹  has deceived you – you who reside in the safety of the rocky cliffs, ²  whose home is high in the mountains. ³  You think to yourself, ⁴  ‘No one can ⁵  bring me down to the ground!’ ⁶
