There on the hillside, ¹  a great herd of pigs was feeding.

And so, because it was the Jewish day of preparation ¹  and the tomb was nearby, ²  they placed Jesus’ body there.

This is how you are to deal with all those cities located far from you, those that do not belong to these nearby nations.

Do not forsake your friend and your father’s friend, and do not enter your brother’s house in the day of your disaster; a neighbor nearby is better than a brother far away. ¹ 

When Jesus ¹  had said this, one of the high priest’s officers who stood nearby struck him on the face and said, ²  “Is that the way you answer the high priest?”

The one far away will die by pestilence, the one close by will fall by the sword, and whoever is left and has escaped these ¹  will die by famine. I will fully vent my rage against them.

Three days after they made the treaty with them, the Israelites found out they were from the local area and lived nearby. ¹ 

He replied, ¹  “Let us go elsewhere, into the surrounding villages, so that I can preach there too. For that is what I came out here to do.” ² 

Once ¹  when Jesus ²  was praying ³  by himself, and his disciples were nearby, he asked them, ⁴  “Who do the crowds say that I am?” ⁵ 

So when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing there, he said to his mother, “Woman, ¹  look, here is your son!”

After him the priests worked, men of the nearby district.

For the hills bring it food, ¹  where all the wild animals play.

Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures ¹  will gather. ² 

(Now Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there, opposite the tomb.)

Gazing at Jesus as he walked by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” ¹ 

Thus the people who had come to mourn ¹  said, “Look how much he loved him!”

Those standing near him ¹  said, “Do you dare insult ²  God’s high priest?”

And if someone sitting down receives a revelation, the person who is speaking should conclude.

Abraham ¹  looked up ²  and saw ³  three men standing across ⁴  from him. When he saw them ⁵  he ran from the entrance of the tent to meet them and bowed low ⁶  to the ground. ⁷ 

Then she went and sat down by herself across from him at quite a distance, about a bowshot ¹  away; for she thought, ²  “I refuse to watch the child die.” ³  So she sat across from him and wept uncontrollably. ⁴
