You who are naive, discern ¹  wisdom! And you fools, understand discernment! ² 

To impart ¹  shrewdness ²  to the morally naive, ³  and ⁴  a discerning ⁵  plan ⁶  to the young person. ⁷ 

and I saw among the naive – I discerned among the youths ¹  – a young man ²  who lacked wisdom. ³ 

The woman called Folly ¹  is brash, ²  she is naive ³  and does not know ⁴  anything. ⁵ 

A naive person ¹  believes everything, but the shrewd person discerns his steps. ² 

The naive inherit ¹  folly, but the shrewd ²  are crowned ³  with knowledge.

“Whoever is naive, let him turn in here,” she says ¹  to those ²  who lack understanding. ³ 

When a scorner is punished, the naive ¹  becomes wise; when a wise person is instructed, ²  he gains knowledge.

A shrewd person ¹  sees danger ²  and hides himself, but the naive keep right on going ³  and suffer for it. ⁴

For these are the kind who do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By their smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds ¹  of the naive.

So let the one who thinks he is standing be careful that he does not fall.

But understand this, that in the last days difficult ¹  times will come.

For the waywardness ¹  of the simpletons will kill ²  them, and the careless ease ³  of fools will destroy them.

“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here,” she says to those who lack understanding. ¹ 

Flog ¹  a scorner, and as a result the simpleton ²  will learn prudence; ³  correct a discerning person, and as a result he will understand knowledge. ⁴ 

Beware ¹  of people, because they will hand you over to councils ²  and flog ³  you in their synagogues. ⁴ 

“How long will you simpletons ¹  love naiveté? ²  How long ³  will mockers ⁴  delight ⁵  in mockery ⁶  and fools ⁷  hate knowledge?

This is what you must do on the seventh day of the month for anyone who sins inadvertently or through ignorance; so you will make atonement for the temple.

Stay awake and pray that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
