he who ¹  crushes ²  me with a tempest, and multiplies my wounds for no reason. ³ 

So Job opens his mouth to no purpose; ¹  without knowledge he multiplies words.”

For he adds transgression ¹  to his sin; in our midst he claps his hands, ²  and multiplies his words against God.”

yet a fool keeps on babbling. ¹  No one knows what will happen; who can tell him what will happen in the future? ² 

Ephraim continually feeds on the wind; he chases the east wind all day; he multiplies lies and violence. They make treaties ¹  with Assyria, and send olive oil as tribute ²  to Egypt.

Indeed, she lies in wait like a robber, ¹  and increases the unfaithful ²  among men. ³ 

Faithful ¹  are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses ²  of an enemy are excessive. ³ 

Every swarming thing that swarms on the land is detestable; it must not be eaten.

Do not be afraid when a man becomes rich ¹  and his wealth multiplies! ² 

Do not make yourselves detestable by any of the swarming things. ¹  You must not defile yourselves by them and become unclean by them,

This is the law ¹  of the land animals, the birds, all the living creatures that move in the water, and all the creatures ²  that swarm on the land,

when your cattle and flocks increase, when you have plenty of silver and gold, and when you have abundance of everything,

The one who increases his wealth by increasing interest ¹  gathers it for someone who is gracious ²  to the needy.

For all these things are for your sake, so that the grace that is including ¹  more and more people may cause thanksgiving to increase ²  to the glory of God.

for I am the Lord your God and you are to sanctify yourselves and be holy because I am holy. You must not defile yourselves by any of the swarming things that creep on the ground,
