For this very reason, ¹  make every effort ²  to add to your faith excellence, ³  to excellence, knowledge;

Doing wickedness ¹  is an abomination to kings, because a throne ²  is established in righteousness.

They are darkened in their understanding, ¹  being alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts.

Is not your wickedness great ¹  and is there no end to your iniquity?

Their swords will pierce ¹  their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.

for evil men will lose their power, ¹  but the Lord sustains ²  the godly.

To ¹  learn ²  wisdom ³  and moral instruction, ⁴  and to discern ⁵  wise counsel. ⁶ 

To receive ¹  moral instruction ²  in skillful living, ³  in ⁴  righteousness, ⁵  justice, ⁶  and equity. ⁷ 

Because ¹  they hated moral knowledge, ²  and did not choose to fear the Lord, ³ 

I walk in the path of righteousness, in the pathway of justice,

Treasures gained by wickedness ¹  do not profit, but righteousness ²  delivers from mortal danger. ³ 

Fools mock ¹  at reparation, ²  but among the upright there is favor. ³ 

Righteousness exalts ¹  a nation, but sin is a disgrace ²  to any people.

A fool rejects his father’s discipline, but whoever heeds reproof shows good sense. ¹ 

Gray hair is like ¹  a crown of glory; ²  it is attained ³  in the path of righteousness. ⁴ 

Bloodthirsty people ¹  hate someone with integrity; ²  as for the upright, they seek his life. ³ 

Justice will settle down in the desert and fairness will live in the orchard. ¹ 

For the kingdom of God is demonstrated not in idle talk but with power.

Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

and so, somehow, ¹  to attain to the resurrection from the dead.
