The memory ¹  of the righteous is a blessing, but the reputation ²  of the wicked will rot. ³ 

His memory perishes from the earth, he has no name in the land. ¹ 

May the Lord be constantly aware of them, ¹  and cut off the memory of his children ²  from the earth!

“I said, ‘I want to cut them in pieces. ¹  I want to make people forget they ever existed.

For the living know that they will die, but the dead do not know anything; they have no further reward – and even the memory of them disappears. ¹ 

They will talk about the fame of your great kindness, ¹  and sing about your justice. ² 

The dead do not come back to life, the spirits of the dead do not rise. ¹  That is because ²  you came in judgment ³  and destroyed them, you wiped out all memory of them.

The Lord said to Moses, “Write this as a memorial in the ¹  book, and rehearse ²  it in Joshua’s hearing; ³  for I will surely wipe out ⁴  the remembrance ⁵  of Amalek from under heaven.

These days were to be remembered and to be celebrated in every generation and in every family, every province, and every city. The Jews were not to fail to observe these days of Purim; the remembrance of them was not to cease among their descendants.

Indeed, as long as I am in this tabernacle, ¹  I consider it right to stir you up by way of a reminder,

“Remember ¹  the Sabbath ²  day to set it apart as holy. ³ 

I am forgotten, like a dead man no one thinks about; ¹  I am regarded as worthless, like a broken jar. ² 

Are your amazing deeds experienced ¹  in the dark region, ²  or your deliverance in the land of oblivion? ³ 

May his descendants ¹  be cut off! ²  May the memory of them be wiped out by the time the next generation arrives! ³ 

So when the Lord your God gives you relief from all the enemies who surround you in the land he ¹  is giving you as an inheritance, ²  you must wipe out the memory of the Amalekites from under heaven ³  – do not forget! ⁴
