If a false ¹  witness testifies against another person and accuses him of a crime, ² 

Violent men perjure themselves, ¹  and falsely accuse me. ² 

¹ “You must not give ²  a false report. ³  Do not make common cause ⁴  with the wicked ⁵  to be a malicious ⁶  witness.

One who acts wickedly ¹  pays attention to evil counsel; ²  a liar listens ³  to a malicious tongue. ⁴ 

Now ¹  at that time certain ²  Chaldeans came forward and brought malicious accusations against ³  the Jews.

Likewise also their wives ¹  must be dignified, not slanderous, temperate, faithful in every respect.

You love to use all the words that destroy, ¹  and the tongue that deceives.

¹ Appoint an evil man to testify against him! ²  May an accuser stand ³  at his right side!

They ¹  rebel against you ²  and act deceitfully; ³  your enemies lie. ⁴ 

If a ruler listens to ¹  lies, ²  all his ministers ³  will be wicked. ⁴ 

The Lord says, ¹  “I will make youths their officials; malicious young men ²  will rule over them.

adultery, greed, evil, deceit, debauchery, envy, slander, pride, and folly.

unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, savage, opposed to what is good,

You will be protected ¹  from malicious gossip, ²  and will not be afraid of the destruction ³  when it comes.

If ¹  I have rejoiced over the misfortune of my enemy ²  or exulted ³  because calamity ⁴  found him –

Do not disregard ¹  what your enemies say, ²  or the unceasing shouts of those who defy you. ³ 

The one who hates others disguises ¹  it with his lips, but he stores up ²  deceit within him. ³ 

But Jesus realized their evil intentions and said, “Hypocrites! Why are you testing me?

You must put away every kind of bitterness, anger, wrath, quarreling, and evil, slanderous talk.

But now, put off all such things ¹  as anger, rage, malice, slander, abusive language from your mouth.
