When the king of Moab realized he was losing the battle, ¹  he and 700 swordsmen tried to break through and attack ²  the king of Edom, but they failed.

The Lord laughs in disgust ¹  at them, for he knows that their day is coming. ² 

For I am about to stumble, and I am in constant pain. ¹ 

My strength leaves me; ¹  I am absolutely shocked. ² 

He must manage his own household well and keep his children in control without losing his dignity. ¹ 

No one ¹  was able to answer him a word, and from that day on no one dared to question him any longer.

If someone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss. ¹  He himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

“Which one ¹  of you, if he has a hundred ²  sheep and loses one of them, would not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture ³  and go look for ⁴  the one that is lost until he finds it? ⁵
