Whoever tries to keep ¹  his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life ²  will preserve it.

For whoever wants to save his life ¹  will lose it, ²  but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, ¹  but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.

Whoever finds his life ¹  will lose it, ²  and whoever loses his life because of me ³  will find it.

Watch out, so that you do not lose the things we have worked for, ¹  but receive a full reward. ² 

A time to search, and a time to give something up as lost; ¹  a time to keep, and a time to throw away;

Then ¹  Jesus ²  told them a parable to show them they should always ³  pray and not lose heart. ⁴ 

For this reason I ask you ¹  not to lose heart because of what I am suffering for you, ²  which ³  is your glory. ⁴

Foreigners lose their courage; ¹  they shake with fear ²  as they leave ³  their strongholds. ⁴ 

For I tell you the truth, ¹  whoever gives you a cup of water because ²  you bear Christ’s ³  name will never lose his reward.

For what does it benefit a person ¹  if he gains the whole world but loses or forfeits himself?

Therefore, since we have this ministry, just as God has shown us mercy, ¹  we do not become discouraged. ² 

And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple, I tell you the truth, ¹  he will never lose his reward.”

Now this is the will of the one who sent me – that I should not lose one person of every one he has given me, but raise them all up ¹  at the last day.

My child, do not let them ¹  escape from your sight; safeguard sound wisdom and discretion. ² 

The one who loves his life ¹  destroys ²  it, and the one who hates his life in this world guards ³  it for eternal life.

Therefore we do not despair, ¹  but even if our physical body ²  is wearing away, our inner person ³  is being renewed day by day.

The Danites said to him, “Don’t say another word to us, or some very angry men ¹  will attack you, and you and your family will die.” ²
