David came to Saul and stood before him. Saul liked him a great deal, ¹  and he became his armor bearer.

because Herod stood in awe of ¹  John and protected him, since he knew that John ²  was a righteous and holy man. When Herod ³  heard him, he was thoroughly baffled, ⁴  and yet ⁵  he liked to listen to John. ⁶ 

So he went and got the goats ¹  and brought them to his mother. She ²  prepared some tasty food, just the way his father loved it.

Pharaoh liked Hadad so well ¹  he gave him his sister-in-law (Queen Tahpenes’ sister) as a wife. ² 

But ¹  Noah found favor ²  in the sight of ³  the Lord.

Samson continued on down to Timnah ¹  and spoke to the girl. In his opinion, she was just the right one. ² 

Then God made the overseer of the court officials sympathetic to Daniel. ¹ 

The matter seemed appropriate to the king and the officials. So the king acted on the advice of Memucan.

praising God and having the good will ¹  of all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number every day ²  those who were being saved.

(Now the Lord granted the people favor with ¹  the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, respected by Pharaoh’s servants and by the Egyptian people.) ² 

There were no restrictions on the drinking, ¹  for the king had instructed all of his supervisors ²  that they should do as everyone so desired. ³ 

And I tell you that Elijah has already come. Yet they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they wanted. In ¹  the same way, the Son of Man will suffer at their hands.”
