The dice are thrown into the lap, ¹  but their every decision ²  is from the Lord. ³ 

So he picked him up and took him to his mother. He sat on her lap ¹  until noon and then died.

Naomi took the child and placed him on her lap; ¹  she became his caregiver. ² 

Can a man hold ¹  fire ²  against his chest ³  without ⁴  burning his clothes?

She made him go to sleep on her lap ¹  and then called a man in to shave off ²  the seven braids of his hair. ³  She made him vulnerable ⁴  and his strength left him.

Give, and it will be given to you: A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, ¹  will be poured ²  into your lap. For the measure you use will be the measure you receive.” ³ 

Do not let yourself be quickly provoked, ¹  for anger resides in the lap ²  of fools.

So he brought the men ¹  down to the water. Then the Lord said to Gideon, “Separate those who lap the water as a dog laps from those who kneel to drink.” ² 

Someone went out to the field to gather some herbs and found a wild vine. ¹  He picked some of its fruit, ²  enough to fill up the fold of his robe. He came back, cut it up, and threw the slices ³  into the stew pot, not knowing they were harmful. ⁴ 

how much less man, who is abominable and corrupt, ¹  who drinks in evil like water! ² 

A gift given ¹  in secret subdues ²  anger, and a bribe given secretly ³  subdues ⁴  strong wrath. ⁵ 

Therefore they have more than enough food to eat, and even suck up the water of the sea. ¹ 

Why do you remain inactive? Intervene and destroy him! ¹ 

Pay back our neighbors in full! ¹  May they be insulted the same way they insulted you, O Lord! ² 

which cannot fill the reaper’s hand, or the lap of the one who gathers the grain!

Now the part that remains of the curtains of the tent – the half curtain that remains will hang over at the back of the tabernacle. ¹ 

“Now ¹  the poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. ²  The ³  rich man also died and was buried. ⁴ 

And in hell, ¹  as he was in torment, ²  he looked up ³  and saw Abraham far off with Lazarus at his side. ⁴ 

I also shook out my garment, ¹  and I said, “In this way may God shake out from his house and his property every person who does not carry out ²  this matter. In this way may he be shaken out and emptied!” All the assembly replied, “So be it!” and they praised the LORD. Then the people did as they had promised. ³ 

The foot and a half ¹  on the one side and the foot and a half on the other side of what remains in the length of the curtains of the tent will hang over the sides of the tabernacle, on one side and the other side, to cover it. ²
