“I will destroy people and animals; I will destroy the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea. (The idolatrous images of these creatures will be destroyed along with evil people.) ¹  I will remove ²  humanity from the face of the earth,” says the Lord.

“Does not humanity have hard service ¹  on earth? Are not their days also like the days of a hired man? ² 

so that the rest of humanity ¹  may seek the Lord, namely, ²  all the Gentiles ³  I have called to be my own,’ ⁴  says the Lord, ⁵  who makes these things

“Man, born of woman, ¹  lives but a few days, ²  and they are full of trouble. ³ 

all flesh would perish together and human beings would return to dust.

All humanity has seen it; people gaze on it from afar.

and all humanity ¹  will see the salvation of God.’” ² 

If ¹  I have sinned – what have I done to you, ²  O watcher of men? ³  Why have you set me as your target? ⁴  Have I become a burden to you? ⁵ 

An oracle of the word of the Lord concerning the land of Hadrach, ¹  with its focus on Damascus: ²  The eyes of all humanity, ³  especially of the tribes of Israel, are toward the Lord,

when he nullified ¹  in his flesh the law of commandments in decrees. He did this to create in himself one new man ²  out of two, ³  thus making peace,

Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, he likewise shared in ¹  their humanity, ²  so that through death he could destroy ³  the one who holds the power of death (that is, the devil),

to eat ¹  your fill ²  of the flesh of kings, the flesh of generals, ³  the flesh of powerful people, the flesh of horses and those who ride them, and the flesh of all people, both free and slave, ⁴  and small and great!”

in whose hand ¹  is the life ²  of every creature and the breath of all the human race. ³ 

For ¹  it has been hidden from the eyes of every living creature, and from the birds of the sky it has been concealed.

The heavens belong to the Lord, ¹  but the earth he has given to mankind. ² 

I will make human beings more scarce than pure gold, and people more scarce ¹  than gold from Ophir.

The grass dries up, the flowers wither, when the wind sent by the Lord ¹  blows on them. Surely humanity ²  is like grass.

Be silent in the Lord’s presence, all people everywhere, ¹  for he is being moved to action in his holy dwelling place. ² 

For there is one God and one intermediary ¹  between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, himself human, ² 

For since he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
