He marks out the horizon ¹  on the surface of the waters as a boundary between light and darkness.

When he established the heavens, I was there; when he marked out the horizon ¹  over the face of the deep,

Under the whole heaven he lets it go, even his lightning to the far corners ¹  of the earth.

They come from a distant land, from the horizon. ¹  It is the Lord with his instruments of judgment, ²  coming to destroy the whole earth. ³ 

Yes, my hand founded the earth; my right hand spread out the sky. I summon them; they stand together.

Who are these who float along ¹  like a cloud, who fly like doves to their shelters? ² 

He is the one who sits on the earth’s horizon; ¹  its inhabitants are like grasshoppers before him. ²  He is the one who stretches out the sky like a thin curtain, ³  and spreads it out ⁴  like a pitched tent. ⁵ 

He will not grow rich, and his wealth will not endure, nor will his possessions ¹  spread over the land.

As far as the eastern horizon ¹  is from the west, ²  so he removes the guilt of our rebellious actions ³  from us.

If I were to fly away ¹  on the wings of the dawn, ²  and settle down on the other side ³  of the sea,

For the music director; a psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; ²  the sky displays his handiwork. ³ 

It emerges from the distant horizon, ¹  and goes from one end of the sky to the other; ²  nothing can escape ³  its heat.

Indeed, ask about the distant past, starting from the day God created humankind ¹  on the earth, and ask ²  from one end of heaven to the other, whether there has ever been such a great thing as this, or even a rumor of it.

Yet its voice ¹  echoes ²  throughout the earth; its ³  words carry ⁴  to the distant horizon. ⁵  In the sky ⁶  he has pitched a tent for the sun. ⁷ 

Wail, O city gate! Cry out, O city! Melt with fear, ¹  all you Philistines! For out of the north comes a cloud of smoke, and there are no stragglers in its ranks. ² 

Sing to the Lord a brand new song! Praise him ¹  from the horizon of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and everything that lives in it, ²  you coastlands ³  and those who live there!

Honesty has disappeared; the one who tries to avoid evil is robbed. The Lord watches and is displeased, ¹  for there is no justice.

Its boughs were strong, fit ¹  for rulers’ scepters; it reached up into the clouds. It stood out because of its height and its many branches. ² 

The shields of his warriors are dyed red; ¹  the mighty soldiers are dressed in scarlet garments. ²  The metal fittings ³  of the chariots ⁴  shine like ⁵  fire ⁶  on the day of battle; ⁷  the soldiers brandish ⁸  their spears. ⁹ 

I will stand at my watch post; I will remain stationed on the city wall. ¹  I will keep watching, so I can see what he says to me and can know ²  how I should answer when he counters my argument. ³
