For they will quickly dry up like grass, and wither away like plants. ¹ 

My teaching will drop like the rain, my sayings will drip like the dew, ¹  as rain drops upon the grass, and showers upon new growth.

And to all the animals of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to all the creatures that move on the ground – everything that has the breath of life in it – I give ¹  every green plant for food.” It was so.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Extend your hand toward the sky ¹  that there may be ²  hail in all the land of Egypt, on people and on animals, ³  and on everything that grows ⁴  in the field in the land of Egypt.”

The hail struck everything in the open fields, both ¹  people and animals, throughout all the land of Egypt. The hail struck everything that grows ²  in the field, and it broke all the trees of the field to pieces.

They ¹  reached up to the sky, then dropped into the depths. The sailors’ strength ²  left them ³  because the danger was so great. ⁴ 

The one who has a perverse heart ¹  does not find good, ²  and the one who is deceitful in speech ³  falls into trouble.

Although ¹  a righteous person may fall seven times, he gets up again, but the wicked will be brought down ²  by calamity.

Blessed is the one who is always cautious, ¹  but whoever hardens his heart ²  will fall into evil.
