Look, God is my deliverer! ¹  The Lord is among those who support me. ² 

Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me! O Lord, deliver me!” ¹ 

So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, and ¹  I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” ² 

For he will rescue the needy ¹  when they cry out for help, and the oppressed ²  who have no defender.

I will destroy you, ¹  O Israel! Who ²  is there to help you?

The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. ¹  I will make a companion ²  for him who corresponds to him.” ³ 

Then ¹  I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate ²  to be with you forever –

You have taken notice, ¹  for ²  you always see ³  one who inflicts pain and suffering. ⁴  The unfortunate victim entrusts his cause to you; ⁵  you deliver ⁶  the fatherless. ⁷ 

The Lord is on my side ¹  as my helper. ²  I look in triumph on those who hate me.

They destroy ¹  my path; they succeed in destroying me ²  without anyone assisting ³  them.

The Lord saw Israel’s intense suffering; ¹  everyone was weak and incapacitated and Israel had no deliverer. ² 

So the man named all the animals, the birds of the air, and the living creatures of the field, but for Adam ¹  no companion who corresponded to him was found. ² 

for I rescued the poor who cried out for help, and the orphan who ¹  had no one to assist him;

O Israel, trust in the Lord! He is their deliverer ¹  and protector. ² 

O family ¹  of Aaron, trust in the Lord! He is their deliverer ²  and protector. ³ 

For the time has come to destroy all the Philistines. The time has come to destroy all the help that remains for Tyre ¹  and Sidon. ²  For I, the Lord, will ³  destroy the Philistines, that remnant that came from the island of Crete. ⁴ 

But the Advocate, ¹  the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you ²  everything, ³  and will cause you to remember everything ⁴  I said to you.

When the Advocate ¹  comes, whom I will send you from the Father – the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father – he ²  will testify about me,

But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I am going away. For if I do not go away, the Advocate ¹  will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you.

You loyal followers of the Lord, ¹  trust in the Lord! He is their deliverer ²  and protector. ³
