He left ¹  with all he owned. He quickly crossed ²  the Euphrates River ³  and headed for ⁴  the hill country of Gilead.

When King Zedekiah of Judah and all his soldiers saw them, they tried to escape. They departed from the city during the night. They took a path through the king’s garden and passed out through the gate between the two walls. ¹  Then they headed for the Jordan Valley. ² 

But an empty man will become wise, when a wild donkey’s colt is born a human being. ¹ 

got into a boat, and started to cross the lake ¹  to Capernaum. ²  (It had already become dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.) ³ 

Then the Lord said to Moses: “I have seen this people. ¹  Look ²  what a stiff-necked people they are! ³ 

and I saw among the naive – I discerned among the youths ¹  – a young man ²  who lacked wisdom. ³ 

The woman called Folly ¹  is brash, ²  she is naive ³  and does not know ⁴  anything. ⁵ 

under a servant ¹  who becomes king, under a fool who is stuffed with food, ² 

Then ¹  he left them, got back into the boat, and went to the other side.

After Jesus ¹  had said this, he continued on ahead, ²  going up to Jerusalem. ³ 

Then Moses took ¹  his wife and sons ²  and put them on a donkey and headed back ³  to the land of Egypt, and Moses took the staff of God in his hand.

Next we set out on ¹  the route to Bashan, ²  but King Og of Bashan and his whole army ³  came out to meet us in battle at Edrei. ⁴ 

Even when I am old and gray, ¹  O God, do not abandon me, until I tell the next generation about your strength, and those coming after me about your power. ² 

The chariot with the black horses is going to the north country and the white ones are going after them, but the spotted ones are going to the south country.

So they slipped ¹  the anchors ²  and left them in the sea, at the same time loosening the linkage ³  that bound the steering oars ⁴  together. Then they hoisted ⁵  the foresail ⁶  to the wind and steered toward ⁷  the beach.

The two men turned ¹  and headed ²  toward Sodom, but Abraham was still standing before the Lord. ³ 

Then Abner son of Ner and the servants of Ish-bosheth son of Saul went out from Mahanaim to Gibeon.

So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and went on his way. He went home and stayed in Nineveh. ¹ 

So I made a vow in my anger, ‘They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.’” ¹ 

Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave. ¹
