So ¹  the one seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was reaped.

You will come to your grave in a full age, ¹  As stacks of grain are harvested in their season.

You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but are never filled. You drink, but are still thirsty. You put on clothes, but are not warm. Those who earn wages end up with holes in their money bags.’” ¹ 

So all these Judeans returned to the land of Judah from the places where they had been scattered. They came to Gedaliah at Mizpah. Thus they harvested a large amount of wine and dates and figs. ¹ 

The sovereign Lord showed me this: I saw ¹  him making locusts just as the crops planted late ²  were beginning to sprout. (The crops planted late sprout after the royal harvest. ³ )

The seed is still in the storehouse, isn’t it? And the vine, fig tree, pomegranate, and olive tree have not produced. Nevertheless, from today on I will bless you.’”

Like a vine he will let his sour grapes fall, ¹  and like an olive tree he will shed his blossoms. ² 

He handed the territory of nations over to them, and they took possession of what other peoples had produced, ¹ 

When the hay is removed and new grass appears, and the grass from the hills is gathered in,

But if it produces thorns and thistles, it is useless and about to be cursed; ¹  its fate is to be burned.

When Isaac planted in that land, he reaped in the same year a hundred times what he had sown, ¹  because the Lord blessed him. ² 

“Do not hold back offerings from your granaries or your vats. ¹  You must give me the firstborn of your sons.

They ate some of the produce of the land the day after the Passover, including unleavened bread and roasted grain. ¹ 

Ruth the Moabite replied, “He even ¹  told me, ‘You may go along beside my servants ²  until they have finished gathering all my harvest!’” ³ 

Your plunder ¹  disappears as if locusts were eating it; ²  they swarm over it like locusts! ³ 

When you gather in the crop, ¹  give ²  one-fifth of it to Pharaoh, and the rest ³  will be yours for seed for the fields and for you to eat, including those in your households and your little children.”

They went out to the field, harvested their grapes, ¹  squeezed out the juice, ²  and celebrated. They came to the temple ³  of their god and ate, drank, and cursed Abimelech.

It will be as when one gathers the grain harvest, and his hand gleans the ear of grain. It will be like one gathering the ears of grain in the Valley of Rephaim.

I will weep for the grapevines of Sibmah just like the town of Jazer weeps over them. ¹  Their branches once spread as far as the Dead Sea. ²  They reached as far as the town of Jazer. ³  The destroyer will ravage her fig, date, ⁴  and grape crops.

For the Lord God of Israel who rules over all says, ‘Fair Babylon ¹  will be like a threshing floor which has been trampled flat for harvest. The time for her to be cut down and harvested will come very soon.’ ²
