for with guidance you wage your war, and with numerous advisers there is victory. ¹ 

Plans ¹  are established by counsel, so ²  make war ³  with guidance.

When there is no guidance ¹  a nation falls, but there is success ²  in the abundance of counselors.

(Let the wise also ¹  hear ²  and gain ³  instruction, and let the discerning ⁴  acquire ⁵  guidance! ⁶ )

The clouds ¹  go round in circles, wheeling about according to his plans, to carry out ²  all that he commands them over the face of the whole inhabited world.

and those who turn their backs on ¹  the Lord and do not want the Lord’s help or guidance.” ² 

Yes, I find delight in your rules; they give me guidance. ¹ 

May your loyal followers ¹  turn to me, those who know your rules.

Because I give ¹  you good instruction, ²  do not forsake my teaching.

But we know that the law is good if someone uses it legitimately,

The one who says to wood, ‘Wake up!’ is as good as dead ¹  – he who says ²  to speechless stone, ‘Awake!’ Can it give reliable guidance? ³  It is overlaid with gold and silver; it has no life’s breath inside it.

Moses said to his father-in-law, “Because the people come to me to inquire ¹  of God.
