These four were the descendants of Rapha who lived in Gath; they were killed ¹  by David and his soldiers. ² 

He breaks through against me, time and time again; ¹  he rushes ²  against me like a warrior.

Later there was another battle with the Philistines, this time in Gob. On that occasion Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Saph, who was one of the descendants of Rapha.

In a battle in Gath ¹  there was a large man who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot – twenty-four in all! He too was a descendant of Rapha.

These were the descendants of Rapha who lived in Gath; they were killed ¹  by the hand of David and his soldiers. ² 

Now Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of Rapha, ¹  had a spear ²  that weighed three hundred bronze shekels, ³  and he was armed with a new weapon. ⁴  He had said that he would kill David.

Later there was a battle ¹  with the Philistines in Gezer. ²  At that time Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Sippai, ³  one of the descendants of the Rephaim, and the Philistines ⁴  were subdued.

Yet another battle occurred in Gath. On that occasion there was a large man ¹  who had six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in all! He too was a descendant of Rapha.

Then a champion ¹  came out from the camp of the Philistines. His name was Goliath; he was from Gath. He was close to seven feet tall. ² 

Meanwhile for forty days the Philistine approached every morning and evening and took his position.

When all the men of Israel saw this man, they retreated ¹  from his presence and were very afraid.

will you, with him, spread out ¹  the clouds, solid as a mirror of molten metal?

These people, as well as the Anakites, are also considered Rephaites; ¹  the Moabites call them Emites.

The soldiers ¹  told him what had been promised, saying, ²  “This is what will be done for the man who can strike him down.”

The mountains were covered by its shadow, the highest cedars ¹  by its branches.

for all the cedars of Lebanon, that are so high and mighty, for all the oaks of Bashan; ¹ 

Can spoils be taken from a warrior, or captives be rescued from a conqueror? ¹ 

His young shoots will grow; his splendor will be like an olive tree, his fragrance like a cedar of Lebanon.

But ¹  the inhabitants ²  are strong, and the cities are fortified and very large. Moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.

(That also is considered to be a land of the Rephaites. ¹  The Rephaites lived there originally; the Ammonites call them Zamzummites. ²
