He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycamore-fig trees with driving rain.

He sends the snow that is white like wool; he spreads the frost that is white like ashes. ¹ 

From whose womb does the ice emerge, and the frost from the sky, ¹  who gives birth to it,

When ¹  the layer of dew had evaporated, ²  there on the surface of the desert was a thin flaky substance, ³  thin like frost on the earth.

On that day there will be no light – the sources of light in the heavens will congeal. ¹ 

O fire and hail, snow and clouds, ¹  O stormy wind that carries out his orders, ² 

So the Lord says concerning King Jehoiakim of Judah, “None of his line will occupy the throne of David. ¹  His dead body will be thrown out to be exposed to scorching heat by day and frost by night. ² 

I was consumed by scorching heat ¹  during the day and by piercing cold ²  at night, and I went without sleep. ³ 

The breath of God produces ice, and the breadth of the waters freeze solid.

Like a vine he will let his sour grapes fall, ¹  and like an olive tree he will shed his blossoms. ²
