Isaac loved Esau because he had a taste for fresh game, ¹  but Rebekah loved ²  Jacob.

Do not love sleep, ¹  lest you become impoverished; open your eyes so that ²  you might be satisfied with food. ³

For the overseer ¹  must be blameless as one entrusted with God’s work, ²  not arrogant, not prone to anger, not a drunkard, not violent, not greedy for gain.

But where are the gods you made for yourselves? Let them save you when you are in trouble. The sad fact is that ¹  you have as many gods as you have towns, Judah.
