The name of the second river is Gihon; it runs through ¹  the entire land of Cush. ² 

The name of the third river is Tigris; it runs along the east side of Assyria. ¹  The fourth river is the Euphrates.

He said to me, “These waters go out toward the eastern region and flow down into the Arabah; when they enter the Dead Sea, ¹  where the sea is stagnant, ²  the waters become fresh. ³ 

Now ¹  a river flows ²  from Eden ³  to water the orchard, and from there it divides ⁴  into four headstreams. ⁵ 

The name of the first is Pishon; it runs through ¹  the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold.

Every living creature which swarms where the river ¹  flows will live; there will be many fish, for these waters flow there. It will become fresh ²  and everything will live where the river flows.

If the Lord delights in us, then he will bring us into this land and give it to us – a land that is flowing with milk and honey. ¹ 

On both sides of the river’s banks, every kind of tree will grow for food. Their leaves will not wither nor will their fruit fail, but they will bear fruit every month, because their water source flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food and their leaves for healing.” ¹ 

They told Moses, ¹  “We went to the land where you sent us. ²  It is indeed flowing with milk and honey, ³  and this is its fruit.

I had them assemble ¹  at the canal ²  that flows toward Ahava, and we camped there for three days. I observed that the people and the priests were present, but I found no Levites there.

Let them disappear ¹  like water that flows away! ²  Let them wither like grass! ³ 

It is like fine oil poured on the head which flows down the beard ¹  – Aaron’s beard, and then flows down his garments. ² 

He turns springs into streams; ¹  they flow between the mountains.

The tongue of the wise ¹  treats knowledge correctly, ²  but the mouth of the fool spouts out ³  folly.

from ¹  generation to generation he is merciful ²  to those who fear ³  him.

Moreover, ¹  you have not brought us into a land that flows with milk and honey, nor given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards. Do you think you can blind ²  these men? We will not come up.”

“Leave here and travel eastward. Hide out in the Kerith Valley near the Jordan.

The Lord sits enthroned over the engulfing waters, ¹  the Lord sits enthroned ²  as the eternal king.

He then orders it all to melt; ¹  he breathes on it, ²  and the water flows.

The speech ¹  of the righteous bears the fruit of wisdom, ²  but the one who speaks perversion ³  will be destroyed. ⁴
