The folds ¹  of its flesh are tightly joined; they are firm on it, immovable. ² 

Stay alert, stand firm in the faith, show courage, be strong.

For now we are alive again, ¹  if you stand firm in the Lord.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, ¹  stand firm and hold on to the traditions that we taught you, whether by speech or by letter. ² 

For he spoke, and it ¹  came into existence, he issued the decree, ²  and it stood firm.

For they suffer no pain; ¹  their bodies ²  are strong and well-fed. ³ 

when he established the clouds above, when the fountains of the deep grew strong, ¹ 

Strengthen the hands that have gone limp, steady the knees that shake! ¹ 

I do not mean that we rule over your faith, but we are workers with you for your joy, because by faith you stand firm. ¹ 

Resist him, ¹  strong in your faith, because you know ²  that your brothers and sisters ³  throughout the world ⁴  are enduring ⁵  the same kinds of suffering. ⁶ 

By your endurance ¹  you will gain ²  your lives. ³ 

However, God’s solid foundation remains standing, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” ¹  and “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord ²  must turn away from evil.”

Your words have supported ¹  those who stumbled, ²  and you have strengthened the knees that gave way. ³ 

They will fall down, ¹  but we ²  will stand firm. ³ 

ל (Lamed) O Lord, your instructions endure; they stand secure in heaven. ¹ 

For freedom ¹  Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be subject again to the yoke ²  of slavery.

So then, my brothers and sisters, ¹  dear friends whom I long to see, my joy and crown, stand in the Lord in this way, my dear friends!

For we have become partners with Christ, if in fact we hold our initial confidence ¹  firm until the end.

But Christ ¹  is faithful as a son over God’s ²  house. We are of his house, ³  if in fact we hold firmly ⁴  to our confidence and the hope we take pride in. ⁵ 

I will always extend my loyal love to him, and my covenant with him is secure. ¹
