The Lord was with Joshua and he became famous throughout the land. ¹ 

When the queen of Sheba heard about Solomon, ¹  she came to challenge ²  him with difficult questions. ³ 

So David became famous ¹  in all the lands; the Lord caused all the nations to fear him. ² 

The Ammonites paid tribute to Uzziah and his fame reached ¹  the border of Egypt, for he grew in power.

But they went out and spread the news about him throughout that entire region. ¹ 

So ¹  the news about him spread quickly throughout all the region around Galilee.

If you kill ¹  this entire people at once, ²  then the nations that have heard of your fame will say,

Mordecai was of high rank ¹  in the king’s palace, and word about him was spreading throughout all the provinces. His influence ²  continued to become greater and greater.

They will talk about the fame of your great kindness, ¹  and sing about your justice. ² 

He was wiser than any man, including Ethan the Ezrahite or Heman, Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol. He was famous in all the neighboring nations. ¹ 

O Lord, your name endures, ¹  your reputation, O Lord, lasts. ² 

And the news of this spread throughout that region. ¹ 

Then ¹  he will elevate you above all the nations he has made and you will receive praise, fame, and honor. ²  You will ³  be a people holy to the Lord your God, as he has said.

Your fame ¹  spread among the nations because of your beauty; your beauty was perfect because of the splendor which I bestowed on you, declares the sovereign Lord. ² 

“‘But you trusted in your beauty and capitalized on your fame by becoming a prostitute. You offered your sexual favors to every man who passed by so that your beauty ¹  became his.

But you, O Lord, rule forever, ¹  and your reputation endures. ² 

I will perform a mighty act among them ¹  and then send some of those who remain to the nations – to Tarshish, Pul, ²  Lud ³  (known for its archers ⁴ ), Tubal, Javan, ⁵  and to the distant coastlands ⁶  that have not heard about me or seen my splendor. They will tell the nations of my splendor.

At that time Herod the tetrarch ¹  heard reports about Jesus,

They told him, “Your subjects ¹  have come from a very distant land because of the reputation ²  of the Lord your God, for we have heard the news about all he did in Egypt ³ 

When the queen of Sheba heard about Solomon, ¹  she came to challenge ²  him ³  with difficult questions. ⁴  She arrived in Jerusalem ⁵  with a great display of pomp, ⁶  bringing with her camels carrying spices, ⁷  a very large quantity of gold, and precious gems. She visited Solomon and discussed with him everything that was on her mind.
