“Why did I not ²  die ³  at birth, ⁴  and why did I not expire as ⁵  I came out of the womb?

But man ¹  dies and is powerless; ²  he expires – and where is he? ³ 

Who ¹  will contend with me? If anyone can, I will be silent and die. ² 

if I have eaten its produce without paying, ¹  or caused the death ²  of its owners, ³ 

But if they refuse to listen, they pass over the river of death, ¹  and expire without knowledge.

When you ignore them, they panic. ¹  When you take away their life’s breath, they die and return to dust.

Now when the centurion, ¹  who stood in front of him, saw how he died, ²  he said, “Truly this man was God’s Son!”
