“‘Then the land will make up for ¹  its Sabbaths all the days it lies desolate while you are in the land of your enemies; then the land will rest and make up its Sabbaths.

Once again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria. ¹  Those who plant them will once again enjoy their fruit. ² 

choosing rather to be ill-treated with the people of God than to enjoy sin’s fleeting pleasure.

I thought to myself, ¹  “Come now, ²  I will try ³  self-indulgent pleasure ⁴  to see ⁵  if it is worthwhile.” ⁶  But I found ⁷  that it also is futile. ⁸ 

if he should live a thousand years twice, yet does not enjoy his prosperity. For both of them die! ¹ 

He will not look on the streams, ¹  the rivers, which are the torrents ²  of honey and butter. ³ 

He gives back the ill-gotten gain ¹  without assimilating it; ²  he will not enjoy the wealth from his commerce. ³ 

To every man whom God has given wealth, and possessions, he has also given him the ability ¹  to eat from them, to receive his reward and to find enjoyment in his toil; these things ²  are the gift of God.

But I will bring in your little ones, whom you said would become victims of war, ¹  and they will enjoy ²  the land that you have despised.

and also that everyone should eat and drink, and find enjoyment in all his toil, for these things ¹  are a gift from God.

The land will be abandoned by them ¹  in order that it may make up for ²  its Sabbaths while it is made desolate ³  without them, ⁴  and they will make up for their iniquity because ⁵  they have rejected my regulations and have abhorred ⁶  my statutes.

Their children ¹  are firmly established in their presence, ²  their offspring before their eyes.

But the oppressed will possess the land and enjoy great prosperity. ¹ 

Let the nations thank you, O God! Let all the nations thank you! ¹ 

Let the nations thank you, O God! Let all the nations thank you! ¹ 

and that you might see ¹  your grandchildren. ²  May Israel experience peace! ³ 

Come, let’s drink deeply ¹  of lovemaking ²  until morning, let’s delight ourselves ³  with sexual intercourse. ⁴ 

Fools mock ¹  at reparation, ²  but among the upright there is favor. ³ 

No longer will they build a house only to have another live in it, ¹  or plant a vineyard only to have another eat its fruit, ²  for my people will live as long as trees, ³  and my chosen ones will enjoy to the fullest what they have produced. ⁴ 

and elaborate greetings ¹  in the marketplaces, and to have people call them ‘Rabbi.’
