“So now Pharaoh should look ¹  for a wise and discerning man ²  and give him authority ³  over all the land of Egypt.

So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Because God has enabled you to know all this, there is no one as wise and discerning ¹  as you are!

Wisdom is directly in front of ¹  the discerning person, but the eyes of a fool run ²  to the ends of the earth. ³ 

The one who keeps the law ¹  is a discerning child, ²  but a companion of gluttons brings shame ³  to his parents. ⁴ 

I ¹  grant your request, ²  and give ³  you a wise and discerning mind ⁴  superior to that of anyone who has preceded or will succeed you. ⁵ 

Who is wise? Let him discern ¹  these things! Who is discerning? Let him understand them! For the ways of the Lord are right; the godly walk in them, but in them the rebellious stumble.

(Let the wise also ¹  hear ²  and gain ³  instruction, and let the discerning ⁴  acquire ⁵  guidance! ⁶ )

The one who is wise in heart ¹  is called ²  discerning, and kind speech ³  increases persuasiveness. ⁴ 

For the one who eats and drinks without careful regard ¹  for the body eats and drinks judgment against himself.

All of them are clear ¹  to the discerning and upright to those who find knowledge.

The discerning person ¹  acquires knowledge, and the wise person ²  seeks ³  knowledge.

Wisdom is found in the words ¹  of the discerning person, ²  but the one who lacks wisdom ³  will be disciplined. ⁴ 

For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will thwart the cleverness of the intelligent.” ¹ 

Therefore I will again do an amazing thing for these people – an absolutely extraordinary deed. ¹  Wise men will have nothing to say, the sages will have no explanations.” ² 

Select wise and practical ¹  men, those known among your tribes, whom I may appoint as your leaders.”

The scorner ¹  seeks wisdom but finds none, ²  but understanding is easy ³  for a discerning person.

Wisdom rests in the heart of the discerning; it is known ¹  even in the heart ²  of fools.

The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of fools feeds on folly. ¹ 

A rebuke makes a greater impression on ¹  a discerning person than a hundred blows on a fool. ² 

Even a fool who remains silent is considered ¹  wise, and the one who holds his tongue is deemed discerning. ²
