A person ¹  plans his course, ²  but the Lord directs ³  his steps. ⁴ 

A wise person’s good sense protects him, ¹  but a fool’s lack of sense leaves him vulnerable. ² 

Look at ships too: Though they are so large and driven by harsh winds, they are steered by a tiny rudder wherever the pilot’s inclination directs.

The king’s heart ¹  is in the hand ²  of the Lord like channels of water; ³  he turns it wherever he wants.

With his hands ¹  he covers ²  the lightning, and directs it against its target.

Now this is what we will do to Gibeah: We will attack the city as the lot dictates. ¹ 

For to the snow he says, ‘Fall ¹  to earth,’ and to the torrential rains, ²  ‘Pour down.’ ³ 

Yes, your servant finds moral guidance there; ¹  those who obey them receive a rich reward. ² 

The steps of a person ¹  are ordained by ²  the Lord – so how can anyone ³  understand his own ⁴  way?

A wicked person ¹  shows boldness with his face, ²  but as for the upright, ³  he discerns ⁴  his ways.

By day the Lord decrees his loyal love, ¹  and by night he gives me a song, ²  a prayer ³  to the living God.

If you do this thing, and God so commands you, ¹  then you will be able ²  to endure, ³  and all these people ⁴  will be able to go ⁵  home ⁶  satisfied.” ⁷ 

He replied to them, “Stay ¹  here tonight, and I will bring back to you whatever word the Lord may speak to me.” So the princes of Moab stayed with Balaam.

This is what the Lord, your protector, ¹  says, the Holy One of Israel: ²  “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you how to succeed, who leads you in the way you should go.

They answered Jeremiah, “May the Lord be a true and faithful witness against us if we do not do just as ¹  the Lord sends you to tell us to do.

You, however, are not in ¹  the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.
