“‘Every winged swarming thing that walks on all fours ¹  is detestable to you.

“When they return to it, they will remove from it all its detestable things and all its abominations.

Every swarming thing that swarms on the land is detestable; it must not be eaten.

You must not eat any forbidden ¹  thing.

Any creature in the water that does not have both fins and scales is detestable to you.

But any other winged swarming thing that has four legs is detestable to you.

Furthermore, ¹  on the hill east of Jerusalem ²  Solomon built a high place ³  for the detestable Moabite god Chemosh ⁴  and for the detestable Ammonite god Milcom. ⁵ 

Solomon worshiped ¹  the Sidonian goddess Astarte and the detestable Ammonite god Milcom. ²

Since they are detestable to you, you must not eat their meat and their carcass you must detest.

You must not have sexual intercourse with a male as one has sexual intercourse with a woman; ¹  it is a detestable act. ² 

Whoever does these things is abhorrent to the Lord and because of these detestable things ¹  the Lord your God is about to drive them out ²  from before you.

You have seen their detestable things ¹  and idols of wood, stone, silver, and gold.) ² 

“Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: Will you defile yourselves like your fathers ¹  and engage in prostitution with detestable idols?

Do not make yourselves detestable by any of the swarming things. ¹  You must not defile yourselves by them and become unclean by them,
