“That is because, from the least important to the most important of them, all of them are greedy for dishonest gain. Prophets and priests alike, all of them practice deceit.

It goes well for the one ¹  who generously lends money, and conducts his business honestly. ²

For anyone who acts dishonestly in these ways is abhorrent ¹  to the Lord your God.

Are God’s consolations ¹  too trivial for you; ²  or a word spoken ³  in gentleness to you?

She is harsh ¹  with her young, as if they were not hers; she is unconcerned about the uselessness of her labor.

The king shows favor ¹  to a wise ²  servant, but his wrath falls ³  on one who acts shamefully.

The one who deals wisely ¹  in a matter ²  will find success, ³  and blessed ⁴  is the one who trusts in the Lord. ⁵

I have received a distressing message: ¹  “The deceiver deceives, the destroyer destroys. Attack, you Elamites! Lay siege, you Medes! I will put an end to all the groaning!” ²

Endure your suffering ¹  as discipline; ²  God is treating you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline?
