In that day,” says the sovereign Lord, “I will make the sun set at noon, and make the earth dark in the middle of the day. ¹ 

Jesus replied, ¹  “Are there not twelve hours in a day? If anyone walks around in the daytime, he does not stumble, ²  because he sees the light of this world. ³ 

Let its morning stars ¹  be darkened; let it wait ²  for daylight but find none, ³  nor let it see the first rays ⁴  of dawn,

Then ¹  Jesus ²  got up early in the morning when it was still very dark, departed, and went out to a deserted place, and there he spent time in prayer. ³ 

Because they were afraid ¹  that we would run aground on the rocky coast, ²  they threw out ³  four anchors from the stern and wished ⁴  for day to appear. ⁵ 

The Lord said to Moses, “Arrest all the leaders ¹  of the people, and hang them up ²  before the Lord in broad daylight, ³  so that the fierce anger of the Lord may be turned away from Israel.”

suffering harm as the wages for their harmful ways. ¹  By considering it a pleasure to carouse in broad daylight, ²  they are stains and blemishes, indulging ³  in their deceitful pleasures when they feast together with you.

Although you have acted in secret, I will do this thing before all Israel, and in broad daylight.’” ¹ 

You stumble day and night, and the false prophets stumble with you; You have destroyed your own people! ¹ 

with the harvest produced by the daylight ¹  and by ²  the moonlight; ³ 

Disaster is within it; violence ¹  and deceit do not depart from its public square.

At daybreak ¹  the magistrates ²  sent their police officers, ³  saying, “Release those men.”

for the fruit of the light ¹  consists in ²  all goodness, righteousness, and truth –

Then Jacob ¹  said, “Since it is still the middle of the day, ²  it is not time for the flocks to be gathered. You should water the sheep and then go and let them graze some more.” ³ 

The woman arrived back at daybreak and was sprawled out on the doorstep of the house where her master ¹  was staying until it became light. ² 

We grope along the wall like the blind, we grope like those who cannot see; ¹  we stumble at noontime as if it were evening. Though others are strong, we are like dead men. ² 

They meet with darkness in the daytime, ¹  and grope about ²  in the noontime as if it were night. ³ 

Before daybreak ¹  the murderer rises up; he kills the poor and the needy; in the night he is ²  like a thief. ³ 

that it might seize the corners of the earth, ¹  and shake the wicked out of it?

He will vindicate you in broad daylight, and publicly defend your just cause. ¹
