You are a lion’s cub, Judah, from the prey, my son, you have gone up. He crouches and lies down like a lion; like a lioness – who will rouse him?

His victims are crushed and beaten down; they are trapped in his sturdy nets. ¹ 

They crouch, they bear ¹  their young, they bring forth the offspring they have carried. ² 

They crouch and lie down like a lion, and as a lioness, ¹  who can stir him? Blessed is the one who blesses you, and cursed is the one who curses you!’”

Of Joseph he said: May the Lord bless his land with the harvest produced by the sky, ¹  by the dew, and by the depths crouching beneath;

Of Gad he said: Blessed be the one who enlarges Gad. Like a lioness he will dwell; he will tear at an arm – indeed, a scalp. ¹ 

Is it not true ¹  that if you do what is right, you will be fine? ²  But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching ³  at the door. It desires to dominate you, but you must subdue it.” ⁴ 

because of the God of your father, who will help you, ¹  because of the sovereign God, ²  who will bless you ³  with blessings from the sky above, blessings from the deep that lies below, and blessings of the breasts and womb. ⁴
