At the top ¹  of the elevated places along the way, at the intersection ²  of the paths she takes her stand;

You should not have stood at the fork in the road ¹  to slaughter ²  those trying to escape. ³  You should not have captured their refugees when they suffered adversity. ⁴ 

Take note – I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse: ¹ 

The Lord said to his people: ¹  “You are standing at the crossroads. So consider your path. ²  Ask where the old, reliable paths ³  are. Ask where the path is that leads to blessing ⁴  and follow it. If you do, you will find rest for your souls.” But they said, “We will not follow it!”

They set up sacred pillars and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.

“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali, the way by the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles –

So go into the main streets and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.’

And those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all they found, both bad and good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.

And wherever he would go – into villages, towns, or countryside – they would place the sick in the marketplaces, and would ask him if ¹  they could just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.
