Like the fire that burns down the forest, or the flames that consume the mountainsides, ¹ 

For the company of the godless is barren, ¹  and fire ²  consumes the tents of those who accept bribes. ³ 

For it is a fire that devours even to Destruction, ¹  and it would uproot ²  all my harvest.

It eats away parts of his skin; ¹  the most terrible death ²  devours his limbs.

My zeal ¹  consumes ²  me, for my enemies forget your instructions. ³ 

Fire goes before him; on every side ¹  it burns up his enemies.

The fool folds his hands and does no work, ¹  so he has nothing to eat but his own flesh. ² 

If ¹  anyone wants to harm them, fire comes out of their mouths ²  and completely consumes ³  their enemies. If ⁴  anyone wants to harm them, they must be killed this way.

In the abundance of your majesty ¹  you have overthrown ²  those who rise up against you. ³  You sent forth ⁴  your wrath; ⁵  it consumed them ⁶  like stubble.

‘Surely our enemies ¹  are destroyed, and fire consumes their wealth.’

The drought as well as the heat carry away the melted snow; ¹  so the grave ²  takes away those who have sinned. ³ 

You conceive straw, ¹  you give birth to chaff; your breath is a fire that destroys you. ² 

For ¹  evil burned like a fire, ²  it consumed thorns and briers; it burned up the thickets of the forest, and they went up in smoke. ³ 

Look, they are like straw, which the fire burns up; they cannot rescue themselves from the heat ¹  of the flames. There are no coals to warm them, no firelight to enjoy. ² 

Certainly ¹  zeal for ²  your house ³  consumes me; I endure the insults of those who insult you. ⁴ 

And at the end of your life ¹  you will groan ²  when your flesh and your body are wasted away. ³ 

For a fire has been kindled by my anger, and it burns to lowest Sheol; ¹  it consumes the earth and its produce, and ignites the foundations of the mountains.

So a treaty curse ¹  devours the earth; its inhabitants pay for their guilt. ²  This is why the inhabitants of the earth disappear, ³  and are reduced to just a handful of people. ⁴ 

ג (Gimel) In fierce anger ¹  he destroyed ²  the whole army ³  of Israel. He withdrew his right hand ⁴  as the enemy attacked. ⁵  He was like a raging fire in the land of Jacob; ⁶  it consumed everything around it. ⁷ 

Your warriors will be like women in your midst; the gates of your land will be wide open ¹  to your enemies; fire will consume ²  the bars of your gates. ³
