“Even today my complaint is still bitter; ¹  his ²  hand is heavy despite ³  my groaning.

I pour out my lament before him; I tell him about ¹  my troubles.

Is my ¹  complaint against a man? ²  If so, ³  why should I not be impatient? ⁴ 

If ¹  I say, ²  “My bed will comfort me, ³  my couch will ease ⁴  my complaint,”

If I say, ¹  ‘I will ²  forget my complaint, I will change my expression ³  and be cheerful,’ ⁴ 

Pay attention to me and answer me! I am so upset ¹  and distressed, ²  I am beside myself, ³ 

“I ¹  am weary ²  of my life; I will complain without restraint; ³  I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

bearing with one another and forgiving ¹  one another, if someone happens to have ²  a complaint against anyone else. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also forgive others. ³

The prayer of an oppressed man, as he grows faint and pours out his lament before the Lord. O Lord, hear my prayer! Pay attention to my cry for help! ² 

So these men concluded, ¹  “We won’t find any pretext against this man Daniel unless it is ²  in connection with the law of his God.”

Why should any living person ¹  complain when punished for his sins? ²
