But Abraham lodged a complaint ¹  against Abimelech concerning a well ²  that Abimelech’s servants had seized. ³ 

So the people murmured ¹  against Moses, saying, “What can ²  we drink?”

The entire company ¹  of Israelites murmured against Moses and Aaron in the desert.

¹ When the people complained, ²  it displeased ³  the Lord. When the Lord heard ⁴  it, his anger burned, ⁵  and so ⁶  the fire of the Lord ⁷  burned among them and consumed some of the outer parts of the camp.

But ¹  the Pharisees ²  and their experts in the law ³  complained ⁴  to his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” ⁵ 

And when the people ¹  saw it, they all complained, ²  “He has gone in to be the guest of a man who is a sinner.” ³ 

You complained among yourselves privately ¹  and said, “Because the Lord hates us he brought us from Egypt to deliver us over to the Amorites so they could destroy us!

I said, “I will remember God while I groan; I will think about him while my strength leaves me.” ¹  (Selah)

But the people were very thirsty ¹  there for water, and they murmured against Moses and said, “Why in the world ²  did you bring us up out of Egypt – to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?” ³ 

Your dead bodies ¹  will fall in this wilderness – all those of you who were numbered, according to your full number, from twenty years old and upward, who have murmured against me.

Now in those ¹  days, when the disciples were growing in number, ²  a complaint arose on the part of the Greek-speaking Jews ³  against the native Hebraic Jews, ⁴  because their widows ⁵  were being overlooked ⁶  in the daily distribution of food. ⁷ 

He said to his father, “My head! My head!” His father ¹  told a servant, “Carry him to his mother.”

“If my land cried out against me ²  and all its furrows wept together,

They grumbled in their tents; ¹  they did not obey ²  the Lord.

When ¹  they received it, they began to complain ²  against the landowner,

And do not complain, as some of them did, and were killed by the destroying angel. ¹ 

And all the Israelites murmured ¹  against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, “If only we had died ²  in the land of Egypt, or if only we had perished ³  in this wilderness!

You must not put the Lord your God to the test as you did at Massah. ¹ 

“If I have disregarded the right of my male servants or my female servants when they disputed ¹  with me,

Those who stray morally will gain understanding; ¹  those who complain will acquire insight. ²
