They watched ¹  Jesus ²  closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath, ³  so that they could accuse him.

Now ¹  one Sabbath when Jesus went to dine ²  at the house of a leader ³  of the Pharisees, ⁴  they were watching ⁵  him closely.

The experts in the law ¹  and the Pharisees ²  watched ³  Jesus ⁴  closely to see if ⁵  he would heal on the Sabbath, ⁶  so that they could find a reason to accuse him.

My feet ¹  have followed ²  his steps closely; I have kept to his way and have not turned aside. ³ 

Its back ¹  has rows of shields, shut up closely ²  together as with a seal;

Go west ¹  across the sea to the coasts of Cyprus ²  and see. Send someone east to Kedar ³  and have them look carefully. See if such a thing as this has ever happened:

As I stared ¹  I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, ²  and wild birds. ³ 

I got up in the morning to nurse my son, and there he was, ¹  dead! But when I examined him carefully in the morning, I realized it was not my baby.” ² 

Now yes, it is true that ¹  I am a guardian, ²  but there is another guardian who is a closer relative than I am.

When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked directly at him and said, “You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus.”

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, ¹  we must get rid of every weight and the sin that clings so closely, and run with endurance the race set out for us,

So ¹  it seemed good to me as well, ²  because I have followed ³  all things carefully from the beginning, to write an orderly account ⁴  for you, most excellent Theophilus,

When he went out from there, the experts in the law ¹  and the Pharisees began to oppose him bitterly, ²  and to ask him hostile questions ³  about many things,

Then a slave girl, ¹  seeing him as he sat in the firelight, stared at him and said, “This man was with him too!”

When Moses saw it, he was amazed at the sight, and when he approached to investigate, there came the voice of the Lord,

Listen carefully ¹  to my words; let your ears be attentive to my explanation. ² 

“Listen carefully ¹  to my words; let this be ²  the consolation you offer me. ³ 

then he looked at wisdom ¹  and assessed its value; ²  he established ³  it and examined it closely. ⁴ 

¹ He puts my feet in shackles; he watches closely all my paths.’

Come children! Listen to me! I will teach you what it means to fear the Lord. ¹
