Now in Joppa ¹  there was a disciple named Tabitha (which in translation means ²  Dorcas). ³  She was continually doing good deeds and acts of charity. ⁴ 

Love is patient, love is kind, it is not envious. Love does not brag, it is not puffed up.

Everything you do should be done in love.

Send ¹  your grain ²  overseas, ³  for after many days you will get a return. ⁴ 

And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Above all keep ¹  your love for one another fervent, ²  because love covers a multitude of sins. ³ 

He ¹  was a devout, God-fearing man, ²  as was all his household; he did many acts of charity for the people ³  and prayed to God regularly.

And to all these ¹  virtues ²  add ³  love, which is the perfect bond. ⁴ 

to godliness, brotherly affection; to brotherly affection, unselfish ¹  love. ² 

But when you do your giving, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

But give from your heart to those in need, ¹  and ²  then everything will be clean for you. ³ 

and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard and your acts of charity ¹  have been remembered before God. ² 

After several years ¹  I came to bring to my people gifts for the poor ²  and to present offerings, ³ 

Pursue love and be eager for the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.

You, however, ¹  have followed my teaching, my ²  way of life, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance,

Older men are to be temperate, dignified, self-controlled, ¹  sound in faith, in love, and in endurance. ² 

Greet one another with a loving kiss. ¹  Peace to all of you who are in Christ. ² 

so that your gift may be in secret. And your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you. ¹ 

With regard to food sacrificed to idols, we know that “we all have knowledge.” ¹  Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but I do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
