When ¹  some of the bystanders heard it, they said, “This man is calling for Elijah.”

When some of the bystanders heard it they said, “Listen, he is calling for Elijah!” ¹ 

When the slave girl saw him, she began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.”

After ¹  a little while, those standing there came up to Peter and said, “You really are one of them too – even your accent ²  gives you away!”

Some people standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”

But he denied it again. A short time later the bystanders again said to Peter, “You must be ¹  one of them, because you are also a Galilean.”

When ¹  he went out to the gateway, another slave girl ²  saw him and said to the people there, “This man was with Jesus the Nazarene.”

And he said to his attendants, ¹  ‘Take the mina from him, and give it to the one who has ten.’ ² 

One of the bystanders drew his sword and struck the high priest’s slave, ¹  cutting off his ear.

They replied as Jesus had told them, and the bystanders ¹  let them go.

Those standing near him ¹  said, “Do you dare insult ²  God’s high priest?”

The crowd that stood there and heard the voice ¹  said that it had thundered. Others said that an angel had spoken to him. ²
