So they hurried off and located Mary and Joseph, and found the baby lying in a manger. ¹ 

When ¹  Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped ²  in her ³  womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. ⁴ 

For the instant ¹  the sound of your greeting reached my ears, ²  the baby in my womb leaped for joy. ³ 

This ¹  will be a sign ²  for you: You will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth and lying in a manger.” ³ 

Now the time came ¹  for Elizabeth to have her baby, ²  and she gave birth to a son.

The king responded, “Give the first woman the living child; don’t kill him. She is the mother.”

opened it, ¹  and saw the child ²  – a boy, ³  crying! ⁴  – and she felt compassion ⁵  for him and said, “This is one of the Hebrews’ children.”

Then his sister said to Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and get ¹  a nursing woman ²  for you from the Hebrews, so that she may nurse ³  the child for you?”

Cursed be the man who made my father very glad when he brought him the news that a baby boy had been born to him! ¹ 

His sister stationed herself ¹  at a distance to find out ²  what would ³  happen to him.

See the one who is pregnant with wickedness, who conceives destructive plans, and gives birth to harmful lies – ¹ 

So ¹  they made signs to the baby’s ²  father, ³  inquiring what he wanted to name his son. ⁴ 

While ¹  they were there, the time came for her to deliver her child. ² 

Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this child ¹  and nurse him for me, and I will pay your ²  wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.

Then three days after I had my baby, this woman also had a baby. We were alone; there was no one else in the house except the two of us. ¹ 

Do not let her be like a baby born dead, whose flesh is half-consumed when it comes out of its ¹  mother’s womb!”

One of the women said, “My master, this woman and I live in the same house. I had a baby while she was with me in the house.

Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Yes, do so.” ¹  So the young girl ²  went and got ³  the child’s mother. ⁴ 

Naomi took the child and placed him on her lap; ¹  she became his caregiver. ² 

but did not have marital relations ¹  with her until she gave birth to a son, whom he named ²  Jesus.
