Then ¹  he rolled up ²  the scroll, gave it back to the attendant, and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on ³  him.

So Moses set out ¹  with ²  Joshua his attendant, and Moses went up the mountain of God.

The prophet’s ¹  attendant got up early in the morning. When he went outside there was an army surrounding the city, along with horses and chariots. He said to Elisha, ²  “Oh no, my master! What will we do?”

He makes the winds his messengers, and the flaming fire his attendant. ¹ 

So the warden ¹  agreed to their proposal ²  and tested them for ten ³  days.

So Joseph found favor in his sight and became his personal attendant. ¹  Potiphar appointed Joseph ²  overseer of his household and put him in charge ³  of everything he owned.

(Now she was wearing a long robe, ¹  for this is what the king’s virgin daughters used to wear.) So Amnon’s ²  attendant removed her and bolted the door ³  behind her.

But his attendant said, “How can I feed a hundred men with this?” ¹  He replied, “Set it before the people so they may eat, for this is what the Lord says, ‘They will eat and have some left over.’” ² 

I summon ¹  my servant, but he does not respond, even though I implore ²  him with my own mouth.

So the warden removed the delicacies and the wine ¹  from their diet ²  and gave them a diet of vegetables instead.

Should you not have shown mercy to your fellow slave, just as I showed it to you?’

On the next day Jesus ¹  wanted to set out for Galilee. ²  He ³  found Philip and said ⁴  to him, “Follow me.”

So they sent their sister Rebekah on her way, accompanied by her female attendant, with Abraham’s servant and his men.

The captain of the guard appointed Joseph to be their attendant, and he served them. ¹  They spent some time in custody. ² 

Joshua son of Nun, the servant ¹  of Moses, one of his choice young men, ²  said, ³  “My lord Moses, stop them!” ⁴ 

He called his personal attendant and said to him, “Take this woman out of my sight ¹  and lock the door behind her!”

The young woman was very beautiful; she became the king’s nurse and served him, but the king did not have sexual relations with her. ¹ 

And day after day Mordecai used to walk back and forth in front of the court of the harem in order to learn how Esther was doing ¹  and what might happen to her.

Daniel then spoke to the warden ¹  whom the overseer of the court officials had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah:

Then the slave threw himself to the ground ¹  before him, saying, ²  ‘Be patient with me, and I will repay you everything.’
