When both the Gentiles and the Jews (together with their rulers) made ¹  an attempt to mistreat ²  them and stone them, ³ 

You who are trying to be declared righteous ¹  by the law have been alienated ²  from Christ; you have fallen away from grace!

He told them, “Collect no more ¹  than you are required to.” ² 

Then ¹  they attempted ²  again to seize him, but he escaped their clutches. ³ 

I do not want to seem as though I am trying to terrify you with my letters,

“If someone ¹  should attempt ²  a word with you, will you be impatient? ³  But who can refrain from speaking ⁴ ?

Give to everyone who asks you, ¹  and do not ask for your possessions ²  back ³  from the person who takes them away.

Whoever tries to keep ¹  his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life ²  will preserve it.

The one bound to a wife should not seek divorce. The one released from a wife should not seek marriage. ¹

For if that first covenant had been faultless, no one would have looked for a second one. ¹ 

My brothers and sisters, ¹  do not show prejudice ²  if you possess faith ³  in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ. ⁴

He plans ways to sin while he lies in bed; he is committed to a sinful lifestyle; ¹  he does not reject what is evil. ²
