Then I said, “I am sickened by the thought that the sovereign One ¹  might become inactive. ² 

But you have spurned ¹  and rejected him; you are angry with your chosen king. ² 

The rules you set down ¹  are completely reliable. ²  Holiness ³  aptly adorns your house, O Lord, forever. ⁴ 

because he taught them like one who had authority, ¹  not like their experts in the law. ² 

Now the law came in ¹  so that the transgression ²  may increase, but where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more,

The arrival of the lawless one ¹  will be by Satan’s working with all kinds of miracles ²  and signs and false wonders,

For the one who wants to love life and see good days must keep ¹  his tongue from evil and his lips from uttering deceit.

However, only to your ancestors did he ¹  show his loving favor, ²  and he chose you, their descendants, ³  from all peoples – as is apparent today.

Wait patiently for the Lord! ¹  Wait confidently ²  for him! Do not fret over the apparent success of a sinner, ³  a man who carries out wicked schemes!

When you see this, you will be happy, ¹  and you will be revived. ²  The Lord will reveal his power to his servants and his anger to his enemies. ³ 

“When ¹  you fast, do not look sullen like the hypocrites, for they make their faces unattractive ²  so that people will see them fasting. I tell you the truth, ³  they have their reward.

saying, “What should we do with these men? For it is plain ¹  to all who live in Jerusalem that a notable miraculous sign ²  has come about through them, ³  and we cannot deny it.

but our presentable members do not need this. Instead, God has blended together the body, giving greater honor to the lesser member,

“‘This is what the sovereign Lord says: When I regather the house of Israel from the peoples where they are dispersed, I will reveal my sovereign power ¹  over them in the sight of the nations, and they will live in their land that I gave to my servant Jacob.
