There was a barrier in front of the alcoves, 1¾ feet ¹  on either side; the alcoves were 10½ feet ²  on either side.

There were closed windows toward the alcoves and toward their jambs within the gate all around, and likewise for the porches. There were windows all around the inside, and on each jamb were decorative palm trees. ¹ 

The alcoves were 10½ feet long and 10½ feet wide; between the alcoves were 8¾ feet. ¹  The threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate facing inward was 10½ feet.

Now there is ¹  in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate ²  a pool called Bethzatha ³  in Aramaic, ⁴  which has five covered walkways. ⁵ 

A great number of sick, blind, lame, and paralyzed people were lying in these walkways. ¹ 

He measured the gateway from the roof of one alcove to the roof of the other, a width of 43¾ feet ¹  from one entrance to the opposite one.
