Now Abraham was old, well advanced in years, ¹  and the Lord had blessed him ²  in everything.

Abraham and Sarah were old and advancing in years; ¹  Sarah had long since passed menopause.) ² 

King David was very old; ¹  even when they covered him with blankets, ²  he could not get warm.

¹ Now David was the son of this Ephrathite named Jesse from Bethlehem ²  in Judah. He had eight sons, and in Saul’s days he was old and well advanced in years. ³

I ¹  was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my nation, ²  and was ³  extremely zealous for the traditions of my ancestors. ⁴ 

And this is what we intend to do, ¹  if God permits.

So Joab and his men ¹  marched toward the Arameans to do battle, and they fled before him.

I said to myself, ‘Age ¹  should speak, ²  and length of years ³  should make wisdom known.’
